Many people today are looking for the real meaning to what life is all about. With so much that is unpredictable and unsure in the world today, what is the real reason for our existence and the real purpose of our lives. The bible makes it clear that our lives are not about a accident of nature or an imaginary big bang, but that there is a God who created all of creation Himself. The bible declares that God created a threefold purpose for your life and mine.
Firstly :- We are created to have and enjoy a relationship with the God who created us.
Secondly:- We were created to look after His creation and be good stewards of His creation
Thirdly :- We were created to multiply and occupy the whole earth. Our creation was not an accident, but a deliberate act of a Creator God to create a being superior to the rest of creation with the wonderful ability to experience His love and provision. That is why human beings have such unique attributes to enable us to know, love and have a Spiritual relationship with the Father God.
So what did God think about His creation? Genesis 1 v 31 “ God saw all that He had made and it was very good.”
Who made man? Malachi 2 v 10 “ Have we not all One Father? Did not One God create us?”
So If God created the world “Good,” what has gone wrong? Why is there so much suffering in the world?
Yes the whole world testifies that something has gone wrong not only with creation but also within ourselves. When God created us He gave us the ability to make free will decisions and choices. He has given us all a fundamental choice to make in our lives.
Choice 1 :- To live in relationship with God. This is the reason we were created for and in this relationship we would experience the creator God’s love, provision and protection.
Choice 2 :- To turn our back on God and live for ourselves. This is to choose to live our lives for ourselves, our desires, plans and ambitions.
The bible makes it clear that right from the beginning of human history, human beings have decided to disobey God and choose to follow their own selfish pride and ambitions. This turning our back on God, choosing to go our own way and living for ourselves is what the Bible calls “sin.” Hatred, jealously, bitterness, racism, lust, gossip, drunkenness etc are all signs and symptoms of the one sin of turning our back on God. Since that “fall” of the first humans, we have all been born spiritually died and separated from a relationship with God. To make matters worse many of us are blind to our true spiritual condition before God.
The True human condition.... Romans 1 v 18—25
“ The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness.”
How many people are affected by sin? Romans 3 v 23
“ There is no difference for ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”
The wrong we do separates us from God—Isaiah 59 v 1—2 “ Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor His ear to dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from God your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.”
As a result of our sins we experience physical and spiritual death. Sickness, genetic problems, mental and spiritual disorders are all part of the consequences of the Fall. We are cut off from our relationship with God and experience the reality of judgement and hell on that great last day.
This is why we are in need of a Saviour and this is why Jesus came to this earth. The bible declares that Jesus Christ is God Himself, who came down to earth and took on human flesh to live amongst us as human beings. This is what we celebrate at Christmas.
Jesus as a proven historical figure did indeed walk on this earth 2000 years ago and lived a perfect human life. Jesus preached the message of salvation to all and went around healing the sick. He then freely chose to give up His life for humanity, to take our punishment and sin upon the cross and die in our place. It says in the bible that all our sins, all that separates us from a relationship with God was taken upon the cross at Calvary and He died in our place that through personal repentance and faith in Him we can be forgiven and set free and Now have a relationship with the God who created us....
But this is not the end of what Jesus has done. It is declared of Jesus that on the third day Jesus rose from the died taking away once and for all the full consequences of sin and the fall and opening up heaven for all who will believe and follow Him. These things are what we celebrate at Easter, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the opening up of a new and living relationship with the God who created us. All this given in and through Jesus.
To receive this spiritual new birth and come back into a living relationship with God we must repent / turn away from our sin by saying sorry to God and asking for His forgiveness in Jesus name.
Secondly we must put our full trust and confidence in the finished work of Jesus by giving our lives fully over to Him so that from now on, we will live for God rather then for ourselves. Romans 6 v 23 “ The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
1 Peter 2 v 24 “ Jesus Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sin and live right with God: by His wounds you have been healed.”
So How do I become a Christian? We do this by Praying to God..........
Confess :- The wrong things that you have done and say sorry for them. Admit that you need His help to sort them out.
Believe—That Jesus is the Son of God and died in your place rising again to new life.
Declare—That Jesus is now Lord and Saviour of your life.
Invite—Jesus into your life by asking to be filled with the Holy Spirit....
